Aakash Thakkar is a Trustee at Maret School. Aakash has over 20 years of experience in the real estate and finance industries.

Aakash started their career as a Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. There, they worked with the development community, politicians, and community residents to facilitate and finance real estate development in DC's underserved neighborhoods. In this role, they were responsible for the $70 million redevelopment of Skyland - an underutilized, 17-acre shopping center east of the Anacostia River - into a high quality, urban retail center with potential for residential and commercial uses.

After their fellowship, Aakash joined the National Capital Revitalization Corporation (NCRC) as their Senior Development Manager. At NCRC, Aakash continued their work in revitalizing underserved communities in Washington, D.C. Aakash was instrumental in the redevelopment of several blighted properties, including the $70 million redevelopment of Skyland Shopping Center.

Aakash is a graduate of Johnson & Johnson's Financial Leadership Development Program (FLDP). Aakash has also holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Mumbai and a master's degree in Real Estate & Urban Development from George Washington University.

Aakash Thakkar has a Master of City and Regional Studies from Rutgers University. Their field is Urban Development. Aakash also has a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University with a concentration in Finance/Management. Their undergraduate degree is a BS from La Salle University in Business, Accounting/Finance, Political Science.
