Amelia Barreto

Amelia Barreto is Country Director for MSI's Timor Leste programme. Her previous roles included MSI Timor Leste's Clinical Quality Manager, Director General for Quality Assurance at the Ministry of Health, and managing the Spotlight Initiatives programme for UNFPA.

Amelia earned a Master’s in Health and International Development and has extensive experience in healthcare quality. She has also worked with civil society organisations to end violence against women and children with a focus on raising awareness in the community, as well as ensuring that the health system and other referral systems respond to survivors' needs.

Amelia is passionate about equity and equality. She showcases MSI's insights and practices to advocate for change at the national level.
