Janelle Cavanagh has extensive experience in various leadership roles focused on philanthropy and fundraising. Janelle is currently the Chief Philanthropy Officer at Marin Community Foundation since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at the University of California, Berkeley as a Co-Founder Certificate of Fundraising and Volunteer Management starting in 2016. Janelle also served as the Secretary of the Advisory Board at Simpson PSB Fund where they advised on the mission statement and grant decision making from 2019 to 2022. At Global Fund for Women, they held multiple roles including Vice President Strategic Partnerships and Donor Advisor, where they managed a fundraising team and implemented a capital campaign. Janelle was also the Director of Western Region at Global Fund for Women, responsible for major donor cultivation and stewardship. Janelle served on the Board of Directors at Women's Funding Network from 2016 to 2019. Janelle has prior experience as the Director of National Expansion at Coaching Corps, Executive Director at University of California Press, and Chief Development Officer at Girls Inc. of Alameda County. Janelle began their career at United Way and also served as a Returned Volunteer at Peace Corps.

Janelle Cavanagh has a Master's Degree from the University of California, Berkeley, with a field of study in Social Welfare - Management and Planning. Janelle also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of San Francisco.
