Suzanne Gavin Whelan

Suzanne Gavin Whelan has extensive experience in volunteer coordination and community outreach, currently serving as the volunteer coordinator at Marin Municipal Water District since June 2009. Previously, Whelan worked as the community outreach manager at Friends of the Urban Forest, where responsibilities included recruiting and supervising volunteers and fostering community engagement through educational initiatives and partnerships. Whelan's background also includes roles such as a nursery volunteer at Strybing Arboretum & Botanic Garden and an Applied Plant Conservation Intern at Denver Botanic Gardens. Early career experience includes serving as a digital technologist at Frog Design and a full-charge bookkeeper at Museum West Fine Art & Framing. Whelan holds a Bachelor's degree in Art History and Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Environmental Education from Boston University and Lesley University, respectively.
