Stefano Lovato is a project manager in the Department of Maritime Operations at MARIN (Maritime Research Institute Netherlands) since February 2023. Previously, Stefano served as a PhD candidate at TU Delft in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on the implementation and validation of a CFD model to study the dynamic effects of fluid mud on ships' navigation from December 2017 to February 2023. Additionally, Stefano worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Civil Engineering and Geosciences department at TU Delft from January 2022 to January 2023 and completed an internship at MARIN from November 2016 to August 2017, which culminated in a Master's thesis on the verification of boundary element method code EXCALIBUR. Early experience includes an internship with Ignazio Messina & C. in October 2013. Education includes both a Master's and a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Università degli Studi di Genova, as well as a high school diploma in Maritime Studies specialized in Shipbuilding from I.T.T.L. Nautico San Giorgio in Genoa, Italy.
