Ben Sainsbury has had a diverse work experience beginning in 2013 as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT). In 2014, they took on the role of Account Manager at Hawk Ridge Systems where they were responsible for selling and 3D consulting, and was able to meet their yearly revenue quota in 10 months and increased their assigned territory by over 300%. In 2015, they became Co-Founder and Managing Director at Filmtyme, a VR Filmmaking Platform that was greenlit on Steam in less than a month and won "Best VR App" in the Google Tango Build an App Contest. In 2016, Ben became Chief Executive Officer at Marion Surgical, a Virtual Reality Surgical Simulation Rehearsal Platform. Ben's responsibilities included leading the product development team, recruiting talent, finding and closing new business opportunities, meeting deadlines/milestones, exceeding expectations and reporting to shareholders. In 2018, they joined NEXT Canada as an Alumni of the 2019 Cohort.
Ben Sainsbury has an extensive educational background. Ben obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from Ontario Tech University between 2013 and 2017. Ben then obtained a Masters of Arts in Screenwriting from the University of Southern California between 2001 and 2005. Ben's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Making from Prescott College between 1993 and 1996. Additionally, they have obtained two certifications: the Barclays Scale Up UK Programme 2020 from Executive Education at Cambridge Judge Business School in September 2020 and the Tech Entrepreneur Nanodegree from Udacity in September 2009.
