Barry Kirk (Baz)

Barry (Baz) Kirk is a seasoned maritime professional currently serving as the Pacific Maritime Safety Advisor at Maritime New Zealand since May 2022. With extensive experience at Maritime New Zealand since 2012, Barry has held various leadership roles including Manager of Sector Engagement and Collaboration, where the focus has been on fostering transparent discussions between the organization and industry stakeholders. Barry has also worked as a National Advisor for Industry Support, emphasizing closer collaboration in maritime compliance and oversight of the recreational boating sector. Prior experience includes positions such as Operations Manager at Coastguard Eastern Region and Program Coordinator at Tairawhiti Polytechnic, demonstrating a robust background in operational support and program development. Barry holds a National Certificate (Level 4) in Adult Education and Training from Gisborne.
