Michael Sampson

Advisor at Market Defense

Michael has been in the beauty and personal care for the better part of 2 decades. Starting his career at L’Oréal, he held a number of positions over the years, eventually running the Prestige Professional brands as General Manager of Kerastase and Shu Uemura. Following L’Oréal, Michael ran incubator Hatch Beauty as the Brands’ President, building products sold exclusively through retailers such as ULTA Beauty, Target, Walmart, Costco, CVS, Kohls, QVC, and Sam’s Club. Michael then was the global CEO of Kate Somerville (acquired by Unilever), a prestige skincare company that he took internationally diversifying US channels and driving DTC performance. Today, Michael is an Operating Executive in a number of Private Equity firms, helps raise capital in earlier stage consumers, and sits on a number of advisory boards.
