Eugene Markman

CEO at MarketFactory

Eugene Markman is the current CEO at MarketFactory. Prior to this, they were the Fixed Income Rates COO at Credit Suisse from January 2007 to February 2014. In this role, Eugene reported to the head of America’s rates trading desk and was responsible for managing and supporting 27 traders and 23 people in Sales and Structuring in treasuries, Swaps, Options and Exotic Rates on a daily basis. Eugene also acted as the liaison between the trading desk all internal support functions, external vendors, auditors and federal regulators.

Under Eugene’s leadership, Credit Suisse was able to reduce spending by $150m and Balance Sheet usage by $10bn in 2013 to become more capital efficient and to meet Basel3 RWA requirements. Eugene also created a system of controls for management to monitor sales and trading activity, and to ensure all due diligence and supervisory tasks are performed to prevent errors, fraudulent trading and ensure that the trading desk is operating within guidelines set by federal regulators.

In addition, Eugene assisted traders and sales in understanding and becoming compliant with Dodd-Frank regulations including mandatory clearing, implementation of SEF trading and mid-market price quoting. Eugene also performed all financial analysis and financial planning for the trading desk including managing a $1.2bn revenue and $700m expense budget while regularly working to adjust the business strategy in accordance to the performance and the rates trading market.

Eugene Markman has an MBA in finance and banking from NYU Stern School of Business, as well as a degree from Binghamton University.
