As chief financial officer for Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital, Mitchell Thomas is responsible for accounting, finance, and all aspects of the revenue cycle (registration, billing, collections, managed care contracting), as well as treasury, purchasing, and materials management.
Mitch previously served as chief financial officer for large health systems such as PIH Health (which includes Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier), Providence Health & Services (which comprises two medical centers in the San Fernando Valley), and Tenet Healthcare Corporation.
A certified public accountant and certified management accountant, Mitch has also earned the highest level of certification from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (fellow), his profession’s national umbrella group. He holds a BS in accounting from Cal State Northridge, and an MBA from Cal State University of Los Angeles, where he taught undergraduate and graduate accounting courses.
