Sebastian Portela

Sebastian Portela has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Sebastian began their career as an Analyst at Alpargatas, where they worked from October 2003 to May 2005. Sebastian then joined YPF S.A. as an Analyst in Planning and Control of Management from August 2006 to September 2009. After that, they worked at Repsol as a Planning & Economics Senior Officer from October 2009 to March 2013. Sebastian then returned to YPF SA, where they held various roles including Technical Representative from April 2013 to August 2014, and later as Chief of Planning and Management Control from September 2014 to October 2020.

In 2020, Sebastian joined GEA ARG as a Financial Consultant and Data Scientist, a role they held until February 2022. Following this, they joined Seenka | Media Data Platform as a Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientist from August 2021 to July 2022. Currently, they are employed at Marvik as a Machine Learning Engineer - Data Scientist, starting in August 2022. Throughout their career, Sebastian has gained experience in machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, classification, and deployment of machine learning models, using various tools and libraries such as TensorFlow, Spacy, Sklearn, Pandas, Numpy, and XGBoost. Sebastian has also worked with databases such as Elastic and SQL, and has experience with Google Cloud and Kubernetes.

Sebastian Portela completed a Diplomatura en Deep Learning in Machine Learning at the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires from 2020 to 2021. Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Tecnología y Gestión de Empresas Energéticas from ISE / IESE in 2005-2006. Sebastian also holds an Engineer's degree in Industrial Engineering, which they obtained from Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires from 1998 to 2002. Sebastian has obtained several certifications, including Unsupervised Learning, Recommenders, Reinforcement Learning from Coursera in August 2022, Exploring and Preparing your Data with BigQuery from Google in March 2022, DeepLearning.AI TensorFlow Developer Specialization from Coursera in May 2021, and Data Analysis with Python from Coursera Certified Courses in September 2020. Sebastian has also completed certifications in Mathematics for Machine Learning: Linear Algebra, Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python), Python Data Structures, and Python for Data Science and AI, all from Coursera Certified Courses in August 2020.
