Andrew McGuffey, PhD, is currently a Medical Physics Resident at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, a position held since July 2023. Previously, Andrew served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Louisiana State University from August 2017 to July 2023, focusing on key projects such as intensity-modulated bolus electron conformal therapy and dose accumulation during lung stereotactic body radiation therapy. During this period, Andrew also gained teaching experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, instructing an introductory physics lab. Prior to that, Andrew worked at Western Kentucky University as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and as a Physics Tutor, and volunteered at Commonwealth Health Corporation in radiation oncology. Additionally, a summer research stint at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine allowed Andrew to explore the toxic effects of Iodine-131 therapy on salivary glands. Andrew holds a PhD in Physics with a concentration in Medical Physics, an MS in Medical Physics, and a BS in Physics, all from Louisiana State University and Western Kentucky University.
