James Hunt, MPA, currently serves as the Acting Deputy Planning Director of Operations and Planning Division Chief at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission since January 2018. Previously, James held the position of Assistant Associate Director at Prince George's County for a brief period in late 2017 and spent over a decade at the City of Alexandria, Virginia, rising through the ranks to become the Permit Center Division Chief. Earlier in their career, James worked as a Community Planner I for the North Carolina Department of Transportation - Rail Division, where collaboration with local government officials was key in gathering public feedback on significant transportation projects. James holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Baltimore and two bachelor's degrees in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is a bi-county agency empowered by the State of Maryland in 1927 to acquire, develop, maintain and administer a regional system of parks within Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, and to provide land use planning for the physical development of these counties. The agency gained responsibility for public recreation program in Prince George's County in 1970.
