Karla Thompson has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Karla began their career in 1996 at Baltimore City Head Start, where they held the roles of Special Education Consultant and Disability Coordinator until 2006. During this time, they also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at both Towson University and Morgan State University from 2002 to 2005. In 2006, Karla joined Maryland Public Television as the Manager of Early Childhood Services, and later became the Director of Learning Design in 2019. Their expertise in early childhood education and special education has made their an invaluable asset in their field.
Karla Thompson has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Special Education from Penn State University. Karla also holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Educational/Instructional Media Design from Full Sail University. Furthermore, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Penn State University. In addition to their academic qualifications, Karla has obtained certification in the Board Pipeline Leadership Development Program from Associated Black Charities in June 2023.
