Sr. Managing Director, Programming & Acquisitions at Maryland Public Television

Kate Pearson has extensive experience in the media industry, with a focus on programming and acquisitions. Kate started their career as a Video Journalist at CNN Headline News in 1992 and then moved on to work as a Programming Coordinator at Turner Network Television Latin America. Kate joined Moviecity as a Programming & Acquisitions Manager in 1995 and later became a Programming Manager at Locomotion Channel. In 1998, they became the Director of Acquisitions at HBO Latin America, where they acquired various types of content for multiple channels. Kate then became the SVP Programming & Acquisitions at The Documentary Channel in 2006. From 2013 to 2016, they worked as an Independent Content Curator for PBS NewsHour, Stone Soup Films, and International Documentary Challenge/ TheAudienceAwards.com. Finally, they are currently working as the Sr. Managing Director of Programming & Acquisitions at Maryland Public Television.

Kate Pearson has a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Theater from Emory University. Kate also holds a Master's degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Middlebury College. Additionally, they have completed a program in Acting and Directing at Trinity Rep Conservatory.
