Julie Angelis Boehler

Acting Principal Percussion at Maryland Symphony Orchestra

Julie Angelis Boehler has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of percussion and timpani. Julie started their career as a Freelance Timpanist/Percussionist in 1990, working as a self-employed musician. In 1997, they joined "Pershing's Own" as a Ceremonial Percussionist and later became the Principal Timpanist from 2003-2020. Julie has had the opportunity to perform in prestigious events such as The Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama and collaborate with renowned artists like Kenny Loggins and Lou Rawls. In 1999, they began working with The Maryland Symphony Orchestra as the 2nd Percussionist "Pandemic Principal," where they played a crucial role in developing innovative ways to maintain vibrancy and relevance during challenging times. Currently, Julie is a Timpanist at the Brass Band of Battle Creek since 2022.

Julie Angelis Boehler holds a Bachelor's degree, cum laude, in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, which they obtained from 1990 to 1994. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's degree in Percussion Performance at Rice University from 1994 to 1996.
