K. Chandra, became the Non-Executive Chairman of the Company in June 2001 and became Executive Chairman in June 2004. As Chairman, he is credited with several strategic initiatives being undertaken, such as acquisitions and fund raisings. He obtained his B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1973, and an MBA from Rutgers University, US in 1976. He worked for ABB Lummus Crest for 18 years in various capacities eventually heading operations in India. He has been appointed as Executive Chairman & CEO for a period of 5 years with effect from June 30, 2004 with the Central Government’s approval.
