Assia Lakhlif

Assia Lakhlif is an accomplished educator and filmmaker with extensive experience in the field of film and visual arts. Currently serving as a Professor at NYIT's College of Arts and Science since January 2011, Lakhlif teaches courses such as Film Theory, International Cinema, and Advanced Film Production, while also directing the NYIT Film Festival. Assia Lakhlif's leadership extends to community education through The Leadership Program, which provides film and visual arts programming in NYC public schools, and directing the Marrakesh Film Academy, focusing on after-school art programs. Additionally, Lakhlif conducts advanced director's workshops at the NPF Summer Film Institute and has produced the docuseries "Of Mics and Men" for Mass Appeal. With a background in writing, directing, and producing independent films through Nekor Films, and earlier teaching roles at the New York Film Academy and other institutions, Lakhlif's work is marked by a commitment to film education and cultural storytelling. Lakhlif holds an MFA in Film/Video from the California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor's Degree in Art from The Cooper Union.
