Carrie Hawthorne

Carrie Hawthorne is a seasoned education coordinator specializing in community engagement and conservation education. Currently serving as the Lead Education Coordinator at Mass Audubon since December 2021, Carrie has achieved a remarkable 900% increase in program participation in Southeastern Massachusetts through strategic partnerships and program development. With extensive experience as a facilitator for the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation since 2016, Carrie has contributed to various national initiatives. Previous roles include Curator of Education at Buttonwood Park Zoo and Manager of School Programs at Roger Williams Park Zoo, where Carrie developed innovative educational programs impacting over 28,000 students annually. Carrie holds an MA in Environmental Education from The University of New Mexico and a BS in Life Sciences/Ecology from Otterbein University.
