Katherine Eshel currently serves as the Senior Director of Climate Policy and Planning at the MBTA, beginning in April 2024. Previously, Katherine held various key roles at the City of Boston from March 2018 to April 2024, including Chief of Staff for the Environment, Energy and Open Space Cabinet, where responsibilities involved overseeing departmental policies, managing a cabinet-level team, and serving as a technical expert. Notable previous positions include Executive Director of the Air Pollution Control Commission and Deputy Director of Climate and Environmental Planning. Katherine's expansive experience encompasses roles in environmental consulting, policy analysis, and project management across various organizations, including SUEZ, UNESCO, and in numerous environmental advocacy initiatives. Katherine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Yale University and dual Master's degrees in Environmental Policy and Environmental Sciences from Sciences Po and Pierre and Marie Curie University.
