Paul Swartz

Paul Swartz is an accomplished technology professional with extensive experience in engineering and software development. Currently serving as Senior Director of Engineering and Principal Architect at MBTA since April 2016, Paul has led initiatives to enhance the user experience for transit riders by improving APIs, redesigning websites, and optimizing data pipelines. In addition to this role, Paul is the Chief Technology Officer at TransitOPS and has been a principal at Paul Swartz, Inc. since December 2017. Previous experience includes positions as Principal Software Engineer and Technical Lead at Zipcar, where Paul led teams and mentored developers, and as Lead Software Engineer at Matchbox, Inc. Paul began a career in software development with the Participatory Culture Foundation, contributing to projects such as the open-source internet video player Miro. Paul holds a BA in Computer Science and English from Hampshire College.
