Rich Abati

Rich Abati is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in bar oversight and litigation. Currently serving as Acting Bar Counsel at the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers since September 2010, Rich Abati focuses on protecting public interests and promoting professionalism within the legal field. Prior roles include First Assistant Bar Counsel, where responsibilities involved strategic planning and ensuring ethical conduct among Massachusetts lawyers, and Assistant Bar Counsel, tasked with investigating and prosecuting lawyer misconduct. Prior to joining the Board, Rich Abati was a Partner at Choate, Hall & Stewart, specializing in complex commercial litigation and white-collar defense, and briefly served as a Special Assistant District Attorney at the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. Rich Abati holds a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Bowdoin College.
