Marianne Poirier Garfi, RHIA, CCS-P, is an experienced medical treatment specialist with a focus on coding, currently serving at the US Department of Labor's Office of Workers' Compensation Programs since September 1999. In this role, Marianne acts as a subject matter expert on ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS coding, providing training to new specialists and examiners in medical billing information systems. Additionally, Marianne is an active AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS training instructor and has contributed as an adjunct faculty member in health information management at multiple colleges since 2012. Previous professional experience includes positions at Hampton Medical as a practice manager and medical coder, as well as roles in medical coding and billing at various organizations. Educational credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Health Information from Northeastern University and an Associate degree from Northern Essex Community College. Marianne is also a longstanding member of the Massachusetts Health Information Management Association since 1992.
