Kelly English has a diverse work experience in the field of child and adolescent services, behavioral health, and innovation. Kelly is currently the Chief Innovation Officer at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC), starting in September 2023. Previously, they worked at the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health as the Deputy Commissioner for Child Youth & Family Services, where they provided executive leadership and strategic vision in the design and execution of initiatives to meet the needs of children and youth with behavioral health needs and their families. Kelly also served as the Director of the Children's Behavioral Health Knowledge Center, where they implemented innovative workforce development activities.
Before joining the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, Kelly English held the role of Adjunct Professor at the University of South Florida and Senior Associate at the Technical Assistance Collaborative. Kelly also worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a CBHI Consultant, providing technical assistance and support to the Office of Behavioral Health staff. Additionally, they have experience as the Director of Child and Adolescent Services at the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership and as a Research Associate at Walker. Kelly'scareer in the field of behavioral health began as a social worker at Boston Medical Center.
Kelly English has an extensive education history. Kelly received their Bachelor of Arts in Special Education and Teaching from Boston College in 1995. Kelly then went on to obtain their Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Boston College in 1997. Kelly continued their education and completed a Ph.D. in Social Work from Boston College in 2005. In addition to their degrees, they also hold the certification of Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
