Richard Griffin

VP, Community Investment, West Region at MassDevelopment

Richard Griffin is currently the VP of Community Investment for the West Region at MassDevelopment. Prior to this, they served as the Senior Project Manager for the City of Springfield, Massachusetts from 2012 to 2017. In this role, Richard was responsible for coordinating and managing highly complex projects which required extensive knowledge of procurement processes, City policies, and the ability to effectively communicate and work in partnership with other City departments. Richard was also responsible for administering, coordinating, and managing projects that served to implement the City’s economic development strategies, as well as, the City’s Action Plan with HUD. Work functions included organizing and reviewing Request for Proposals, preparing sub-recipient contracts and applicable appendices, conducting monitoring and oversight functions, reviewing and approving payment requests, and preparing applications for funding.

Richard has a proven track record of success in community development and investment. Richard has a deep understanding of what it takes to coordinate and manage complex projects, as well as a commitment to working in partnership with other departments and organizations. Richard's experience with overseeing the implementation of economic development strategies makes him a valuable asset to MassDevelopment and the West Region.

Richard Griffin graduated from Tuskegee University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management.

They work with Shyla Matthews - VP, Community Investment, Central Region, Marianna McCormick - VP, Community Investment, Greater Boston Region, and Tonya L. Ingram - Community Investment Program Administrator. Their manager is Sean Calnan, SVP, Community Investment.
