Welch is a Six Sigma Black Belt and possesses expertise in national sales management, strategic alliances, and customer strategy development. They served as an officer in the United States Army from 1980 to 1983 and earned a Bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University. Welch completed a Lean Six Sigma certification at Villanova University in 2007.
