Gifty Asamani

Master Teacher Fellow (in Science) at Math for America

Gifty Asamani, PhD, is an accomplished educator and researcher specializing in science education. Currently serving as an International Fellow at Astor International Fellowship - NYU, Steinhardt since February 2020, Gifty also holds the position of New York State Master Teacher with the New York State Education Department and works as an Assistant Professor of Science Education at both Teachers College, Columbia University and Hunter College. In addition, Gifty has been involved with STEMMatters NYC and serves as a Master Teacher Fellow at Math for America, focusing on professional development in science and mathematics education. Gifty's teaching career began as a teacher with the NYC Department of Education, following an earlier role as an Assistant Researcher at the Columbia University Genomic and Sequencing Laboratory. Gifty earned a PhD in Science Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, a Master's degree in Medical Informatics from Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration in Molecular Biology from LIU Brooklyn.
