Melissa Azur has over 20 years of work experience in various research and counseling roles. Melissa started their career as a Senior Counselor at Grassroots Crisis Center from 1996 to 2000. Melissa then worked as a Project Specialist at the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 2001 to 2003. Following that, they were a Child Mental Health Services Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health from 2002 to 2006. Melissa then became an Assistant Scientist at Johns Hopkins University from 2006 to 2010, where they served as the Project Director of a grant focusing on mental health disparities among children. Since 2010, they have been working as an Associate Director and Senior Researcher at Mathematica Policy Research, where they continue to contribute to the field of research through publications and presentations.

Prior to that, they obtained their MS in Emergency Health Services from the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 2000 to 2002. Melissa also attended Carnegie Mellon University from 1990 to 1994, though their degree and field of study during that time are unspecified.
