Zhao Wang

Zhao Wang, Ph.D., is a Senior Control Tools Developer at MathWorks with extensive experience in model-based design workflows for electric motor applications. Since joining in August 2016, Zhao has been instrumental in integrating advanced control design techniques within the Simulink Control Design tools, authoring technical documentation, and addressing challenges in electrification, renewable energy, and microgrids. Prior to MathWorks, Zhao served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Notre Dame, proposing innovative control solutions for distributed energy resources and enhancing electrical reliability for remote schools in East Africa. Zhao's earlier roles include positions as an Application Support Engineer and intern experiences that led to significant contributions in smart grid technology and decentralized control algorithms. Educational background includes a Ph.D. and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor's degree from Beihang University.
