Chris Upton

Chris Upton has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Chris is currently working at Matillion as a Staff Data Engineer, where they are responsible for building ETL jobs and creating standard patterns for data loading. Prior to Matillion, Chris worked at Beauty Bay as a Data Engineer, where they brought the development of the data warehouse in-house and built ETL pipelines in AWS. Chris also has a significant tenure at TalkTalk, where they held various roles including Senior Database Developer, Technical Lead, Senior Systems Analyst, and Lead SQL Server Developer & Team Leader. In these positions, they contributed to the development of high-performance database solutions, defined systems architecture, gathered business requirements, and managed a team of SQL developers. Overall, Chris has a strong background in data engineering and has worked on projects involving API, SQL, and NoSQL sources, as well as platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, and AWS.

Chris Upton obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from The Open University in the years 2013 to 2019. Prior to that, they earned another Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, completing it between 1994 and 1997.
