Sergio Arbelaez

Sergio Arbelaez has extensive experience in the renewable energy industry, with a significant focus on project acquisition and financing. Sergio served as the Managing Director for Europe & Latam at Matrix Renewables, where they oversaw operations and strategic initiatives in those regions. Prior to this, Sergio worked as the Head of Financing at Matrix Renewables, where they played a key role in securing funding for the organization. Sergio also worked at Trina Solar, where they executed the acquisition of numerous renewable energy projects and managed sales of turnkey Solar PV plants in Europe. Sergio held the position of Corporate Finance Manager at alfanar Energy, where they oversaw the acquisition of wind projects and structured the debt and equity strategy for a portfolio of projects. Sergio's earlier experiences include senior positions at Banco Santander, where they advised multinational groups on strategic and financial opportunities, supervised the origination and execution of deals covered by Export Credit Agencies, and analyzed and managed Project & Acquisition Finance deals. Sergio also worked at Schroders as a Sales Manager, managing relationships with financial institutions and institutional investors. Sergio started their career as an Analyst in Investment Banking at Credit Suisse First Boston.

Sergio Arbelaez received their Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Navarra in 2004. In 2010, they completed an MBA degree at the IESE Business School, with a focus on Master of Business Administration. Additionally, they participated in an exchange program at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in 2009, where they pursued an MBA in General Management. In 1999, they earned a Licenciado in Administración de Empresas from Universidad de Los Andes. In the same year, they also studied Macroeconomics, International Trade, and Foreign Affairs at Georgetown University.
