Vanessa Verstraete

Vanessa Verstraete is an experienced microbiologist currently working as a Microbiologist II at Matrix Sciences since October 2020. Prior to this role, Vanessa served as a Laboratory Technician II at MicroBEST Laboratory, where routine analysis of food, cosmetic, environmental, water, and air samples was conducted in a highly accredited laboratory setting, employing aseptic techniques and advanced testing machinery for pathogen detection. Vanessa's previous positions include Peer Mentor at Wayne State University, where instructional sessions for cell biology were led, and Explorer/Stepping Stones Outreach Guide for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, creating and leading educational nature programs for children. Vanessa also has experience as a Student Assistant at Wayne State University, conducting field work to assess the health of ash trees affected by invasive species. Vanessa holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Wayne State University.
