Geophysicist, Data Analyst at Matrix Solutions

Chris Pooley has a strong background in geophysics, data analysis, and software development. Chris started their career at Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort as a Trail Crew member from 1995 to 1997. Chris then worked at Global Engineering as a Geotechnical Technician from 2001 to 2004. After that, Chris joined WorleyParsons as an Environmental Scientist from 2007 to 2011, and also worked as a Geophysicist from 2004 to 2007. Currently, Chris is employed at Matrix Solutions Inc. as a Geophysicist and Data Analyst, where they utilize various programming languages such as Python, T-SQL, Excel, DAX, VBA, C#, and Power BI to develop software-based solutions for data struggles in different business units. Chris is skilled in using GIS software like ArcGIS to create end-to-end workflows, perform spatial-based risk screening, and generate client-ready output. Chris played a key role in leading the Thermal Risk Screening analysis at Matrix Solutions Inc.

Chris Pooley has a strong educational background in the geoscience field. Chris completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics from the University of Calgary from 2000 to 2005. Prior to that, they obtained a College Diploma in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering from Sir Sandford Fleming College from 1997 to 2000. In addition, they also completed a Certificate in GIS Analysis from Fleming College in 1999 to 2000.

Chris Pooley has also pursued additional certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. Chris obtained a Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera in August 2019. Furthermore, they hold professional designations such as Professional Geophysicist from the APEGA Foundation and Professional Geoscientist in British Columbia from EGBC. Unfortunately, the exact dates of obtaining these professional certifications are not provided. Chris is also eligible to become a Professional Geoscientist in the province of Saskatchewan through APEGS.
