Tim Callahan is a Compiler Engineer at MatX since 2024, focusing on compilers for custom accelerators, ML kernels for large language models, simulators, and hardware/algorithm co-design. Prior to this role, Tim served as a Staff Software Engineer at Google from 2020 to 2023, developing a framework for hardware accelerator co-design for TinyML on FPGAs and contributing to a secure human presence sensor subsystem in Chromebooks. Previous experience includes positions at Wave Computing, Cadence Design Systems, Tabula, Carnegie Mellon University, SRC Computers, and early research roles at ICSI and the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute. Tim holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, a Diploma with Distinction in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude, from the University of Minnesota.
