Premchand Mungar

Premchand Mungar has extensive work experience in the banking and finance sector. Premchand began their career at the State Bank of Mauritius in 1981, where they served as an Officer in Charge in the Retail Banking Division. Premchand then moved on to the Corporate Banking Division, working as an Underwriter and Supervisor. In 1992, they became the Head of the Legal Affairs Division and later transitioned to become the Operations Manager. In 2001, Mungar joined PTA Bank, where they held various roles, including Senior Legal Officer, Head of Legal Services and Corporate Affairs, and General Counsel and Senior Director. Premchand played a key role as the Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors and Board of Governors. Mungar's impressive career continued as they worked as an Advisor in the banking and finance industry, before becoming an Independent non-executive director and Chairperson of the Audit & Risk board committee at the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius. Most recently, they were appointed as the Chief Executive Officer at MauBank Ltd in November 2018.

Premchand Mungar holds a Master of Science (MSc) with Merit in Finance & Financial Law from SOAS University of London. Premchand also obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) (Hons.) in English & French Law from the University of Mauritius. Additionally, they completed the Stanford LEAD program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business. In terms of certifications, Premchand has completed the Stanford Lead Course and is also an Attorney as recognized by the Council of Legal Education and the Supreme Court of Mauritius. Premchand is a member of the Mauritius Bankers Association and the Mauritius Law Society. Premchand has also participated in the 10th Autumn Course on International Finance and the 16th Summer School for International Financial Law, although the obtained years for these certifications are not specified.
