Justin Shiiba has extensive experience in engineering and management roles. Justin is currently working as a Senior Engineering Manager at Maven Clinic. Prior to joining Maven Clinic, they worked at Twitter as an Engineering Manager - Client UI iOS, where they managed a team responsible for the foundational UI and frameworks used by product engineers. Justin also led the SwiftUI experimentation and adoption strategy at Twitter and focused on improving tooling and developer experience.
Before their time at Twitter, Justin worked at Betterment in various roles. Justin started as a Lead Software Engineer - Mobile and later became an Engineering Manager - Banking Mobile. Justin then transitioned to a Senior Engineering Manager, leading the Growth engineering team and managing the Mobile Platform team. Justin also played a key role in migrating the Betterment app from native iOS and Android to Flutter. Justin later became the Director of Engineering, where they led multiple product engineering teams and collaborated with cross-functional teams to drive the technical direction and roadmap.
Prior to their tenure at Betterment, Justin worked as a Senior iOS Engineer at Jibo, Inc., where they built an SDK for developers to remotely connect and control a robot. Justin also designed and implemented a dynamic, server-driven personal settings feature.
Earlier in their career, Justin worked as a Lead iOS Engineer and iOS Engineer at Wayfair. In these roles, they managed a team of iOS developers and led the development of features for Wayfair's applications. Justin also created and led the Build, Branch, and Release team, reducing the growing pains of the iOS team.
Justin's work experience also includes being a Teacher Assistant at Tufts University and an intern at Wayfair. Justin started their career as a Front-End Developer at Gopinion, designing and creating the interface for their iPhone application using Titanium Appcelerator's MVC framework.
Furthermore, Justin gained early experience and skills through an internship and teaching assistant role at General Assemb.ly, where they participated in a summer accelerator program and worked on projects for startup companies.
