Rasmussen boasts extensive experience in the beverage industry, currently serving as Portfolio Manager and previously as On Premise Sales Representative at Maverick Beverage Company since January 2023. Active in the Women's Wine Guild of Colorado since March 2019 as an Executive Board Member, Karen oversees communications, social media, and event preparations to foster inclusion and education for women in the wine and hospitality sectors. As the Owner and Sommelier of The Casual Somm, established in September 2016, Karen offers customizable private wine events and consultations. A dedicated wine enthusiast, Karen spent 2022 exploring global wine production and retailing, including roles as a Wine Explorer in South Africa and Retail Sales with Danish importer Otto Suenson A/S. A strong sales representative with a successful track record across multiple companies, including Classic Beverage Company and Local Merchants of Colorado, Karen combines a solid educational foundation with a Bachelor of Arts from Colorado College and professional certifications in project management and business.

Maverick Beverage Company represents a new era in beverage distribution in the United States. We are the result of a shared vision of like-minded, independent fine wine and craft spirits distributors from across the country. Starting with Maverick Wine Company in 2002, we have grown and forged new partnerships now spanning six states, coming together with Victory Wine Group Texas, Quench Fine Wines Arizona, Progress Wine Group Florida, and Maverick Wine Minnesota (all distributors that were aligned under Palomar Beverage Company). Starting in 2023 we are united under one brand, Maverick Beverage Company. Together we have the resources and reach to remain relevant and compete in markets increasingly dominated by a handful of large wholesalers while operating independently to better serve each market and deliver for our customers and suppliers. There is no other distributor of our size focusing specifically on fine wine and craft spirits.
