Andrew Yang co-founded Apache Design Solutions specializing in energy-efficient design software for mobile semiconductor ICs and served as CEO since its inception in 2001. Apache was rated one of the fastest-growing software IT companies in North America both in 2008 and 2009 by Deloitte and was acquired by Ansys Corp. in 2011. Dr. Yang served as president of the Apache subsidiary and vice president and general manager of ANSYS from 2011 to 2014.
Andrew Yang was an early-round lead investor in over 10 companies and many of them were acquired by scale-driven public companies that were looking for deeper expertise in design automation of semiconductor devices. Dr. Yang was a tenured professor at the University of Washington from 1989 to 1996. and received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1983 and 1989, respectively.
Andrew Yang received the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
