Ivelina Momcheva currently serves as the Head of Data Science at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, a position held since December 2021. Previously, Ivelina was a Mission Scientist in the Data Science Mission Office at the Space Telescope Science Institute from November 2015 to December 2021, and also held roles as Deputy Group Lead and Support Scientist for the Wide Field Camera 3 instrument on the Hubble Space Telescope. Earlier experience includes serving as an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University, where Ivelina was the project manager for the 3D-HST collaboration, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Carnegie Institution for Science. Ivelina Momcheva earned a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Arizona and a B.S. in Physics from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.
