Umair Abdullah PhD has worked in various roles since 2001. Umair began their career as a Lecturer at Barani Institute of Information Technology. In 2005, they took on the role of Lead Software Engineer at a Medical Transcription and Billing Company, where they developed and maintained a rule-based expert system for medical claim scrubbing and implemented data mining algorithms to extract production rules from rejected medical claims. In 2012, they were appointed Assistant Professor at Foundation University Islamabad, and in 2016 they became an Associate Professor at Barani Institute of Information Technology. In 2017, they were appointed Dean at Northern University, Nowshera, KPK, Pakistan. Most recently, in 2021, they were appointed Chief Technology Officer at MaxRemind Inc, where they are responsible for supervising the IT department and conducting research on the utilization of latest tools and technologies.

Umair Abdullah obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Data Mining and Rule Based Expert Systems from Foundation University, Islamabad between 2008 and 2012. In 2014, they obtained a Coursera certification in Crafting an Effective Writer: Tools of the Trade (Fundamental English Writing). In 2013, they obtained a Coursera Verified Certificate in Stanford Online: Writing in Sciences.
