Alex Cunningham

Alex Cunningham is a Lead Robotics Engineer at May Mobility since August 2021, with prior experience as a Senior Research Scientist and Autonomy Researcher at Toyota Research Institute from June 2016 to June 2021. Alex's expertise includes the development and testing of algorithms for real-time perception, planning, and decision-making in autonomous vehicles. Previously, as a Research Investigator and Post-doctoral Research Scientist at the University of Michigan from September 2013 to June 2016, contributions were made in similar areas. Alex began the academic journey at Georgia Institute of Technology as a Graduate Research Assistant from August 2008 to August 2013, focusing on graph-based SLAM algorithms, and also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as a Bachelor of Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
