Dan Barlow

Founding Partner at May River Capital

Dan is a founding partner of May River Capital. Dan co-leads portfolio management at May River and assists in the overall management of the firm, including the development of investment theses, origination of new investment opportunities, deal structuring, negotiations, transaction execution, and internal operations. Dan leads the Industrial Flow Solutions and PaperTech investments, co-leads the Unibloc investment, and previously led the GCM investment for May River.

Prior to co-founding May River, Dan was, from 1998 to 2010, a Principal at Valor Equity Partners, a Chicago-based, private equity firm. While at Valor, Dan was involved in all facets of the investment process, and participated in numerous platform acquisitions across a variety of industries. In addition to his investment responsibilities Dan had broad involvement in operational activities, including holding board and interim management roles within the portfolio, as well as assisting fund operations. Immediately prior to founding May River, Dan served as Operations Officer for Corporate Risk Solutions, a boutique risk management advisory firm serving the alternative asset community, from 2010 to 2012.

Dan was formerly a Captain with the 110th Fighter Wing, Michigan Air National Guard. He is an Eagle Scout and is active in his community through the Guild Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago, a 100-year-old institution serving the city’s youth through after school programs at clubs citywide. Dan lives with his wife and three children in downtown Chicago.
