Angelo Madrid currently serves as the President of Maya Bank since September 2021, focusing on enhancing financial access for unbanked individuals in the Philippines. Prior to this role, Angelo held the position of President & GM at Tala from August 2017 to September 2021, where efforts were centered on providing credit access using mobile technology and data science globally. Previous experience includes founding a startup at Citi Ventures aimed at helping thin-file consumers in the US secure credit, along with roles as Credit Risk Manager and Management Associate within Citi. Angelo began a legal career as a Banking & Finance Lawyer at Baker & McKenzie and as a Legal Associate at SyCip Law. Educational qualifications include an MBA with a focus on Finance and Strategy from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and dual degrees in Business and Law from Ateneo de Manila University.
