Althea Soobyah

Althea Soobyah currently serves as the Head of Tax South Africa and a member of the National Executive Committee at Forvis Mazars, a position held since May 2020, alongside roles as Tax Partner and Director of Tax Consulting. Prior to this, Althea held the position of Associate Director of Tax Controversy in Business Tax Services at EY from July 2017 to April 2020. Althea's extensive career at the South African Revenue Service (SARS) from April 2003 to June 2017 included roles such as Senior Specialist in Interpretative Tax Policy, Senior Manager for Legal & Domestic Taxes, Manager of Domestic Taxes, and various legal consulting positions. Althea holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate Law from the University of Pretoria, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Gordon Institute of Business Sciences, a Higher Diploma in Tax Law from the University of Johannesburg, and an LLB from the University of Pretoria.
