Alex Schammel

Alex Schammel has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research and pharmaceuticals. They most recently worked at Maze Therapeutics as a Scientist II starting in June 2021. Prior to that, from April 2019 to June 2021, they held the same role at Nura Bio. Alex also has experience at Abbvie Stemcentrx LLC, where they worked as a Senior Scientist III from March 2019 to April 2019, and as a Senior Scientist II from March 2016 to March 2019. They also worked as a Senior Scientist II at Stemcentrx, Inc. from March 2016 to March 2019. Earlier in their career, Alex worked as a Medicinal Chemist at Sirenas from May 2014 to January 2016. They also served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Scripps Research Institute from August 2012 to May 2014. Alex holds a Ph.D. from UCLA, where they studied from September 2007 to August 2012. Prior to their research and scientific roles, Alex gained customer service and sales experience as a Customer Service Manager/Salesman at Office Depot from September 1998 to July 2007.

Alex Schammel earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois Chicago from 2004 to 2006. Following this, they pursued a PhD in Organic Chemistry at UCLA, from 2007 to 2012.
