Dr. David J. Morgans, Jr., brings to Maze more than 25 years of experience in drug discovery and development of small molecules. Previously, he was responsible for drug discovery and early development at Pliant Therapeutics. Earlier in his career, Dave served in a variety of executive roles in research and development and general management at Cytokinetics, where he built and led an integrated preclinical R&D organization to provide five novel drug candidates for clinical studies for the potential treatment of cancer, heart failure, ALS and other skeletal muscle disorders. Prior to Cytokinetics, Dave served as vice president of research for Iconix Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and vice president of inflammatory disease at Roche Bioscience. Before that, he held various positions at Syntex Corporation and was an assistant professor of chemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Dave serves as a consultant and scientific advisory board member for several biotech companies. Dave holds a B.S. in chemistry from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Columbia University.
