Julie Ullman

Director Translational Sciences at Maze Therapeutics

Julie Ullman has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Julie is currently working at Maze Therapeutics as an Associate Director of Translational Sciences, a position they have held since February 2023. Julie is also serving as a Project Team Lead at the same company since September 2020.

Prior to Maze Therapeutics, Julie worked at Denali Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist from November 2015 to September 2020.

Julie's earlier experience includes working as a PHD Researcher at UC Berkeley & UCSF Edwards Lab from October 2010 to November 2015. Julie served as a PhD Candidate at the same lab from June 2009 to September 2010, focusing on understanding the molecular basis of Angelman Syndrome.

Before their time at UC Berkeley & UCSF Edwards Lab, Julie worked at UCSF Medical Center, Prusiner Lab, as a Staff Research Associate II from 2006 to 2008. Julie was involved in a project aimed at understanding the physiological role of the non-infectious isoform of the Prion protein.

Julie's earliest work experience was at Mendel Biotechnology, Inc. where they served as a Staff Research Associate II in the Microarray Team from October 2004 to September 2006. Julie contributed to the analysis of gene expression pathways in Arabidopsis thaliana transcription factors.

Throughout their career, Julie has gained experience in a range of scientific techniques and methodologies including cell culture, molecular biology, microscopy, and data analysis.

Julie Ullman pursued their undergraduate education from 1999 to 2003 at Cornell University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Science and Plant Breeding. Subsequently, they attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2008 to 2015, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology.
