John Lyons has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. John is currently working as a Materials and Thermal Engineer at MBRYONICS since April 2022.
Before that, they worked at the University of Limerick from 2013 until 2022. During this time, they held several positions including Postdoctoral Researcher, Postgraduate Researcher, Teaching Assistant, and Research Assistant. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, they focused on advanced manufacturing of novel hybrid composite-to-metal adhesively bonded joints and was responsible for manufacturing within a collaborative team project. As a Teaching Assistant, they supported undergraduate and postgraduate students in the mechanical, aeronautical, and bio-medical department. John demonstrated laboratory experiments, corrected coursework, and graded lab course work. As a Research Assistant, they worked with the Irish Centre for Composites Research (ICOMP) on laser-assisted ATP Machine, where they were involved in manufacturing large thermoplastic composite structures, experimental testing, material characterization, and analysis of experimental results for publications.
Prior to working at the University of Limerick, John had a role as an Office Clerk at Bus Eireann in 2012 and 2010. John also gained experience as an Intern Engineer at Boston Scientific in 2011.

John Lyons has a strong education history in the field of mechanical engineering. John began their educational journey at Dunmore Community School, where they completed their secondary education from 2004 to 2009. Following this, they attended the University of Limerick and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2009 to 2013. Continuing their academic pursuits, John then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Limerick from 2015 to 2019.
