Louis Martin began their professional career in 2014 as a Customer Service Representative for Blazing Saddles Bike Rentals and Tours. In 2015, they took on a Summer Research Intern role at Applied Optics, NUI Galway, where they conducted research on the comparison of the Planet extractor (PEX) software with the data analysis requirements for the Spectro-Polarimetric High-contrast Exoplanet REsearch (SPHERE) instrument on the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in the European Southren Observatory (ESO). In 2017, they became an Educational Committee Representative Astronomy Masters at Leiden University, representing the opinion of students from their year regarding the educational program. In 2019, they joined MBRYONICS as a ConOps & Instrumentation Engineer, working on Satellite to Earth optical communication with a focus on ground segment location & performance optimisation. Additionally, they were involved in instrumentation work, including simulation and analysis of space radiation environment effects on optoelectronic components, detector performance simulations and image processing software development for optical metrology.
Louis Martin attended Summerhill College from 2006 to 2012. Louis then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Galway from 2012 to 2016. Louis completed their education with a Master of Science in Astronomy and Instrumentation from Leiden University from 2016 to 2018. In addition, they obtained certificates in Learning C and OpenCV for Python Developers from LinkedIn in October 2018.
