Jim McCarthy has over 30 years of work experience in the engineering industry. Jim began their career at Catania Engineering as a Senior Project Manager, overseeing various municipal infrastructure projects as well as private sector land development projects. Jim then worked at Thomas R. Gibbons & Associates as the Director of Engineering before becoming the President & CEO of McCarthy Engineering Associates in 2000, where they specialized in a wide range of engineering services. Alongside their role as President & CEO, they also held leadership positions in professional organizations such as the Reading Chapter of Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers and the Delaware County Chapter of Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. In addition, they served as an Associate Director for the Berks County Conservation District and was a Member and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Berks County Planning Commission, focused on sustainable growth and development.
Jim McCarthy earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Widener University in 1992. Jim later pursued a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering at Villanova University from 2011 to 2021.
